The Listening Body: Tiny Dances with Nature

from MYR 0.00

This experience is happening as part of The Fam Weekend, a two-day celebration of community and nature, featuring workshops and family-friendly experiences in the Garden. It's a thank-you to everyone who’s part of the Spice Fam journey and a hello to those just finding their way here.

~

This workshop offers time to slow down and rediscover a sense of play through movement and awareness. It is a space to notice, to experiment, and to be curious about how your body moves and responds to the world around you.

The focus is on presence rather than performance, exploring how movement can awaken the senses, ease tension, and invite a lighter, more curious way of being.

You don’t need any dance experience. Just bring comfortable clothing, an open mind, and a willingness to explore what happens when we listen to ourselves, to others, and to the natural world.

Meet The Facilitator:

Luvenia Kalia is a mover, storyteller, and multidisciplinary artist who explores creativity across many forms. She blends her formal dance training with everyday movement and ritual to create work that reflects the human experience.

Specialising in place-responsive art, Luvenia often creates performances that engage with public spaces and challenge traditional ideas of what a stage can be. She believes that art is an attitude, not a medium, a perspective that broadens the possibilities of who can be an artist and what art can look like.

With over two decades of experience, Luvenia has built an independent and fulfilling career as a choreographer, producer, and performer, working across local and international productions. Her recent works include SKIN, Bhumimata, and WARIS, each carrying a central theme of identity while responding to different landscapes and ideas of accessibility in performance.
