Join us for a special day to celebrate you: our Spice Fam Community, and the spirit that makes the Tropical Spice Garden a vibrant community space. This day is our way of saying thank you for your continued support, and here’s a chance for you to invite your friends along to experience the magic of a Spice Fam membership together with you in a fun-filled day. 

Enjoy a day packed with activities that will nourish your mind and body, while helping you bond with your family, friends, and community. Whether it’s unwinding with harp therapy, crafting little pottery creations with the kids or getting down and dirty to learn some jungle survival skills - we have something for everyone.

The day’s activities are FREE for those who have had an active membership of 3 months or more.
For newer members or those without a Spice Fam membership, passes for activities can be purchased.

  • Pottery With Gerlis Ceramics

    10am & 2pm · Kanopi Coffee

    Learn how to work some magic with clay with your bare hands. Feel the smooth, soft clay glide through your fingers - it’s therapeutic!

  • Forest Bathing

    9am - 10.30am · Red Grove Deck

    We invite you to walk slowly, in no hurry, with us. It is a walk in our garden sanctuary designed to enhance the great exchange between forest and people. It is designed to slow down your mind and body, decrease cortisol levels and blood pressure.

  • Garden Grill

    5pm - 8pm · Kanopi Coffee

    A barbecue with a view of the ocean, and damn good music. A chance to hang out in beautiful space and connect with the Spice Fam community. Dinner is our treat!

  • Curator's Walk & Planting Activity

    2 - 3pm · Water Garden

    Spend time with Kenny the Garden’s curator and custodian as he takes you on a leisurely walk filled with stories of the island’s rich history in the spice trade, the Garden’s origin story and a planting activity to finish.

  • Harp Therapy

    9am - 10am · Glass House

    Join us for an hour-long calming and balancing serenade by harp therapist Victoria Ng. Mats provided for your comfort.

  • Tea Tasting In Nature

    10am - 1pm · Kanopi Coffee

    Brought to you in partnership with Ten Yee Tea, we invite both tea lovers and the curious to enjoy a casual experience for the senses. Hosted by Tea Master Ashley Lim, you’ll get to savour three types of teas on a free-flow basis.

    Featuring a fairy pot making session, here’s a fun-packed, wellness morning out in nature for your kids that will support their physical, mental, and social development - as well as promote a love for the natural world!

  • Pizza Making For Kids

    2pm - 4pm · TSG Cooking School

    Roll up your sleeves and get ready for a delicious adventure in the world of pizza-making! In this family-friendly class by Audrey, learn to make and knead the dough and assemble all the toppings from scratch.

  • Kids Desserts Class

    10am - 12pm · Cooking School

    Straight out of the Garden’s Cooking School expertise featuring desserts enthusiast, Pinky, we will open our kitchen this morning by making no-bake cheesecake in petit, small portions.

  • Jungle Survival For Kids

    11am - 1pm · Garden Campsite

    Welcome to jungle survival, made fun! In this debut workshop on surviving the wilderness by Lincoln Khoo, you will learn the basics of looking for food and water in the jungle, and also learn how to start a fire!

  • Movie Night & Campout

    22 Nov, 8pm · Glasshouse

    Come get inspired, spend the night in nature, and set yourself up bright and early for a wholesome Saturday. We’re watching “Free Solo”.

DROP-IN EXPERIENCES

BOARDGAMES WITH NAT & JESSE
9am - 5pm · Kanopi Coffee · Free

Take a break from your screens and explore the world of Malaysian-made tabletop games! We’re all about gaming in real life, having that eye-to-eye contact and communication, and not to mention, the fun that comes with it! Our bright and passionate resident board-gamers Nat and Jesse will be around to teach you how to play these games, so all you have to do is show up!

As this games corner will be at Kanopi Coffee (the Garden’s cafe), you can enjoy a drink or a bite while you’re at it!
And you’ll also be able to buy the games from the Garden’s Gift Shop.

DRUM & DANCE CIRCLE WITH AIDA REDZA, SU KHENG & FRIENDS
3pm - 4.30pm · Red Grove Deck · Free

Here’s an opportunity for you to learn from one of Malaysia’s leading dancer and choreographer, Aida Redza. Supported by accomplished pianist and traditional percussionist Kang Su Kheng, the session will begin with a dance improv sharing by Aida on how to respond to live music, followed by a percussion workshop by Su Kheng. The session will culminate with a coming-together of both.

This is a family-friendly activity, even kids are welcome!
Drums will be provided but we also encourage you to bring your own drums/buckets/tins/shakers, anything that makes noise!

NATURE FREE PLAY FOR KIDS
9am - 2pm · Nature Den · Free

Step into our nature free play world open for all and sundry. We will be transforming our Nature Den (at the Bamboo Garden) space into a play maker space for kids to create and assemble and direct their own play and play-worlds. The team will be on hand together with mounds and collections of various materials from PVC pipes to pebbles to canvas materials. The Nature Den will provide a safe space or explorative play children led for kids.

We also have a very special collaboration with WEPLAY by WhyteHouse Education Group that will feature wooden pieces and boxes on display to further enable the young to build up new worlds!

NATURE SKETCHING BOOTH
9am - 5pm · Water Garden · Free

We provide the tools and materials, all you have to do is to express yourself! Let Nature be your inspiration and muse, and put your pen/brush/colours to paper to capture the moment or a feeling. There is no right or wrong way, and the key here is to let your creativity flow as naturally and truly as possible.

This booth is co-curated with Li Jynn, a Spice Fam member who is an excellent sketch artist herself. She will be around with her work available for sale and also to chat!

You’re welcome to bring your own drawing tools/sketchbooks.
There will be a casual sharing and photo session of your works at 4pm!

DIY NAMETAG-MAKING BOOTH BY REKAYU
9am - 5pm · Water Garden · RM20-40 / person

Create your own nature-inspired custom name tag! Perfect for ages 6 and up, this 30-minute session introduces woodworking and laser engraving. No prior woodworking experience needed—our facilitator will guide you every step of the way.

Rekayu is a woodworking maker-space based in Penang that is passionate about empowering the next generation with woodworking skills and knowledge as well as design and problem-solving abilities.
