Join us for an ethereal morning at the Water Garden for a recital by shakuhachi master and a dear friend of the Garden, Andrew MacGregor. This hour-long concert is held in conjunction with World Shakuhachi Day.

About Andrew MacGregor:
Andrew MacGregor, Australia’s first shakuhachi Master, started shakuhachi training in 1985, and concentrated on music handed down through Zen Buddhist tradition. In 1993 Andrew changed the course of his life and travelled to Japan where he spent an intensive period of study in Osaka as uchi deshi (home student) with renowned shakuhachi master Tajima Tadashi. Andrew MacGregor conducted his first solo recital in 1995, and since then has actively performed in Australia and Japan as well as USA, Hawaii, Netherlands and Malaysia. Andrew MacGregor has produced six CD’s under his own name and was a finalist in the 2003 All-Japan National Music (Hõgaku) Competition. Andrew has lived in Penang, Malaysia since 2015.
